Stangel Bison Ranch (Stangel Livestock LLC)

Stangel Bison Ranch is the Northwest’s premier purveyor of 100-percent grass-fed-and-finished bison. Founded originally as a cattle ranch in 1958, brothers Bob, Joe, and Dick Stangel introduced bison to the ranch in 1979 and transitioned the ranch to a bison-only operation by 1987. Today, the family ranch comprises 6800 acres of land in Wallowa County and over 400 head of bison, where the animals are rotated through seasonal pastures growing native and forage grasses.
Now in their third generation ranching as a family in Wallowa County, the Stangels are deeply committed to sustainable practices. From no-till farming to prevent topsoil erosion, to growing hundreds of acres of hay to put up for winter feed, and building all of their grazing plans and practices around building and optimizing soil and grass health — the Stangels strive for a vision of vitality that lasts long into the future and for generations to come.
From good and healthy land, comes good and healthy food, and Stangel Bison is a testament to that. Bison meat is lean and packed with both key nutrients (high in protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin B12) and rich, savory flavor. Stangel Bison Ranch products are available year-round, sold wholesale to restaurant and retail, and direct to customers through online sales, a member’s club, and farmer’s markets throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Stangel Bison Ranch will be attending the Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market on the following dates for the 2025 season: May 10th, Jun 14th, July 5th, August 9th, September 6th, and October 11th.
